Congratulations to everyone involved in our successful Guns to Gardens Safe Surrender Event! Our community showed up and showed out for this remarkable and courageous endeavor, including Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and other city leaders, and we are happy to report 81 firearms were surrendered on Saturday. That’s 81 firearms that will no longer cause harm, grief, or worry.
Keep reading below for ways you can get involved and help us further these efforts.
Guns to Gardens 2025
Our goal this year is bold: we aim to collect and safely dismantle over 200 unwanted firearms from across the greater Kansas City area. This work is deeply meaningful, but it also comes with real challenges. Right now, our biggest hurdle is ensuring we have the financial resources needed to make this event a success. By far the largest expense is securing a large number of gift cards to offer as a token of appreciation to participants - a key incentive that ensures these firearms are permanently removed from circulation rather than sold or given away.
This year, we are excited to offer the opportunity for you or your organization to serve as a sponsor for Guns to Gardens. For more information about sponsorships, contact Jess at jessicaotradovec@gmail.com or 402.326.2067.
