The Reverend Heidi A. Peterson was ordained by the Presbytery of Chicago and became pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in 2000. She believes that God's love of wondrous variety is reflected in the diversity of such communities as the Hyde Park neighborhood and Central Church congregation. Pastor Peterson bears primary responsibility for nurturing the spiritual life of the congregation through meaningful worship, pastoral care and administrative leadership.
Leslie Maclean Pollock, Director of Music Ministry, is the artistic talent coordinating and directing the vocal and hand bell choirs, as well as playing Sunday service music on the organ. Ms. Pollock is also an accomplished composer and jazz performer, headlining the Leslie Maclean Trio.
Jan Powell came to Central in 2000 as church secretary and has since taken on the church's bookkeeping tasks as well. Ms. Powell's expertise as a calligrapher and graphic artist bring a unique and creative dimension to her work.
Julie Smith coordinates Central's outreach ministry. In particular, she provides the conceptual, physical and organizational labor necessary for Central to be able to supply groceries and clothing to 120 neighborhood families each month. She works with volunteers, local food banks and other social service agencies.
